A new charity partnership has been announced between a Warwick-based contract cleaning company and a national charity for riders with disabilities.
The Riding for the Disabled Association’s (RDA) recent move from Stoneleigh to Warwick has attracted the support of the town’s Goldcrest Cleaning company.
Goldcrest MD Tim Pearson said: “Over the years we have made regular donations to local chari
ties, but have felt that our contribution has been superficial. We wanted to work closely with just one charity, become involved in its work and truly support them on an ongoing basis.”
Tim said that what impressed him about RDA was its exceptionally high number of volunteers - around 18,000 across the UK - who give a total of 3.5 million hours of their time to the charity each year.
He said: “Any charity with that level of support deserves all the help we can give.”
Established in 1993, Goldcrest Cleaning now has contracts throughout Warwickshire and the West Midlands. From its Warwick base the company’s 200-strong workforce cares for over 100 customers, including Warwick Castle.
The RDA will see £20 donated for each new contract secured by Goldcrest and the charity will gain publicity from the firm’s website and all printed materials - promoting RDA to potential supporters and volunteers they would otherwise struggle to reach.
Goldcrest Cleaning staff will also be working on fundraising events throughout the year and senior management are committed to volunteering at the annual two-day National Champion-ship event held in Gloucestershire in July.
Ed Bracher, RDA chief executive, said: “For almost 40 years, RDA has provided riding and carriage driving opportunities for adults and children with physical disabilities and learning difficulties, providing real and lasting therapy that improves mobility and co-ordination, and increases confidence and self-worth whilst having fun.
“However, it is only with the help of corporate partners - like Goldcrest Cleaning – that we can continue to support our volunteers and provide for all those who wish to experience achievement in a life often beset by overwhelming obstacles.”
The RDA has centres at: Shrewley (Warwick), Fen End (Kenilworth), Ettington and Kineton (Stratford).
