Two artists have teamed up to create their own costume company.
Nicola Richardson and Marianne Taviner have joined forces to form Offchurch-based Vortex Creates Ltd which specialises in large scale costumes and installations for events.

The two artists have collaborated on several projects in the past and decided to team up after achieving success together at prestigious art contest MAD UK awards 2008.

The duo now have a number of ambitious projects in the pipeline, including a contract to design and produce costumes for this year’s Coventry Carnival.

Nicola, a former Coventry University student, and Marianne, originally from Kingsbury, are also planning an assault on the global market after they decided to enter the World of Wearable Art contest in New Zealand.

They have set up Vortex Creates with the help of Leamington-based accountants Harrison Beale and Owen.

Nicola said: “When we decided to set up as a company we wanted to find the right accountant to offer the best support. We decided to go with HB&O because their friendly no-nonsense approach appealed to us. They helped us set up as a company and talked us through all the options.”

Mark Ashfield, a director at HB&O, said: “It is always nice to be involved with a company that is a bit different. Vortex Creates is based in an unusual industry and the project produced many unique and interesting challenges. Some of the pieces Nicola and Marianne have produced are truly remarkable, they have already achieved great things, and will be a huge success.”
