Update from Arthur and Hazel Tebby (July 2005)

This is the photo of us locking the doors to our business.

The local council who we rented the shop from gave us one month to vacate the shop to make way for a new one. We have an expression of interest in for the new one so will see how things go.

Anyway this is the end of an era at the Coogee Beach Shop, it was a family run business and my husband and I worked 7 days a week 14 to 18 hours a day, average, for 26 years and the family was always there to help when needed. We have helped so many people - called ambulances, looked after the kids when Mum dropped them off for a swim. They knew that if they were in trouble we would help, so all felt safe. We have had heart attacks, fits broken limbs, suicides, marriage problems, kids running away from home, so many things have happened and we have helped every one. Everyone was welcome in our shop no matter what they looked like which is how it should be as all are the same.
